Coachella Man Kidnapped From His Home

A Coachella man told authorities he was forced today from his home by two gunmen, who ordered him to turn over his car keys and dropped him off near Mecca uninjured, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.

The 26-year-old man said he was abducted around 3:30 a.m., and that his assailants were in their late teens to early 30s, said Lt. Frank Taylor of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

He said the suspects forced him into his car at gunpoint and drove him to a location near Avenue 66 and Buchanan Street, Taylor said.

The victim, whose name was withheld, walked to a friend’s house nearby and called 911 around 5:30 a.m., the lieutenant said.

The man’s vehicle was later recovered near Avenue 66 and Jackson Street, south of La Quinta, according to Taylor.
