Three Children Arrested After Cathedral City Burglary

Cathedral City police said they arrested three children after a resident claimed he walked in on them during a burglary.

A police representative said it happened Friday morning along the 34300 block of Suncrest Drive in the Panorama area of Cathedral City.

A resident called 911 and reported finding three juveniles inside his home trying to steal things, he said.

The representative said officers immediately arrived, and set up a perimeter in the neighborhood. After canvassing the area, they found two of the suspects a street away, and found another trying to hide in the back yard of the victim’s home.

Despite their young age, 11, 12 and 13 years old, police said they were impressed with how sophisticated their tactics were.

Police said one of them would knock on a door to see if someone was at home, and if there was he would ask to use the bathroom or for some water. Investigators said they used that opportunity to see what was in the house.

If no one was at home when they knocked, they would break in.

All three children were booked at the Cathedral City Police Department, and released to their parents.
