Parents Learn Lessons From Palm Desert Drowning
A 16-month-old Palm Desert girl who drowned in her family’s swimming pool was identified today.
Isabella Brunson was pronounced dead at 3:21 p.m. Tuesday at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
A family member pulled her from the pool about 2:44 p.m. and were attempting to revive her when deputies arrived at the home at 130 Chelsea Circle, said Sgt. Andrew Nielsen of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The drowning appears to be accidental, Nielsen said.
Across town on McCallum Way in Cathedral City, just east of Date Palm. In that case, Cathedral City police tell News Channel 3 a 22-month-old boy was pulled from the pool, and taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs Tuesday afternoon.
Police tell News Channel 3 the pool was surrounded by a 4-foot chain link fence, which was gated. Family members say they don’t know how the child got into the pool area.
He was breathing when he left the home in an ambulance.
He was later transferred to Loma Linda Medical Center in Redlands.
