Police Nab Driver After High Speed Chase Up Interstate 10
A Los Angeles man accused of leading deputies on a chase that began in Cabazon and ended in San Bernardino County when he crashed a stolen car into a power pole was behind bars today.
Alan Ho, 26, was arrested just before midnight Wednesday near Yucaipa Boulevard in Yucaipa, said Sgt. Ken Reichle of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy tried to pull over a red Toyota Carolla for a vehicle code violation around 11 p.m. Wednesday, Reichle said.
The driver of the Toyota took off and the deputy gave chase, the sergeant said, adding that the vehicle had been stolen in Arizona.
Deputies deployed spike strips on Interstate 10 near County Line Road, but he continued until exiting at Yucaipa Boulevard, Reichle said.
The driver turned onto a dead-end street, crashed into a power pole and fled from the vehicle, but was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit, according to Reichle.
The stolen vehicle had minor damage, he said.
