Hundreds Say Goodbye To Norma Lopez

Hundreds of mourners are packed into a Riverside County church to bid goodbye to Norma Lopez, the 17-year-old who police say was abducted and killed just blocks from her school.

So many family members, classmates, police and community members filled St. Christopher Catholic Church Thursday afternoon that the overflow crowd filled a separate hall to watch the funeral Mass on video.

Lopez’s casket, draped in pink and white roses, sat at the head of the church with candles burning next to photos of the teenager.

Police say Lopez was abducted July 15 as she walked to a friend’s home after a summer school class at Valley View High School. Her body was found five days later in a field two miles away.

There have been no arrests.
