Police Arrest Man For Kidnapping, Robbery, Stabbing

A man accused of kidnapping and raping a woman in an alley in Moreno Valley, then stabbing and robbing her, was behind bars today, a sheriff’s sergeant said.

Howard Dupree Grissom, 24, of Moreno Valley, is suspected of abducting the woman early Tuesday from an apartment complex and raping her in the alley, said Sgt. David Knudson of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The woman said that after being sexually assaulted, her assailant stabbed her several times and robbed her, he said.

The woman went to the Thrifty Service Station in the 22900 block of Alessandro Boulevard, where she called for help around 3:10 a.m. Tuesday and was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Knudson said.

Grissom was identified as a suspect and taken into custody around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 13900 block of Frederick Avenue, he said.

He was being held on $1 million bail at the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder, rape, kidnapping and robbery.
