Community To March In Remembrance Of Norma Lopez

A group of Moreno Valley citizens plan a vigil walk Sunday to remember slain 17-year-old Norma Lopez.

Lopez’s body was found in a field not far from where she was reportedly kidnapped after attending summer school.

Residents will be meeting at Valley View High School, where she was last seen, at 5 p.m. Sunday to finish “Norma’s Walk,” a path she took before she was kidnapped while walking home from summer school classes.

The event, organized through Facebook, asks participants to wear white and meet at the school near Nason Street and Dracaea Avenue.

The path will retrace Norma’s intended route from the school to Cottonwood Avenue where she intended to go to a friend’s house.

Those attending are asked to bring a flashlight to symbolize Norma’s spirit and optional posters or signs.
