Firefighters Contain Lake Elsinore Fire

A wildfire had blackened about 80 acres today near the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve west of Murrieta, prompting a road closure.

The blaze broke out for unkwown reasons about 1:15 p.m. near Clinton Keith Road and Avenida La Cresta and was burning at a moderate rate in dense brush, said Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

About 250 firefighters, three helicopters, six air tankers and two bulldozers were sent to the scene, she said. No structures were immediately threatened.

The fire was contained by 4 p.m.

Clinton Keith Road was closed at Bear Creek Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
