Cathedral City Police Investigate Possible Kidnapping

Police investigated a report that a man was forced by two gunmen to get out of one vehicle and into another in Cathedral City today.

Authorities received a report about the matter at 2:06 p.m., said Sgt. Corwin de Veas of the Cathedral City Police Department.

A woman told police that sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., she saw two armed men approach a green sedan — possibly a Honda Civic — and force the passenger out of the car near Date Palm Drive and Perez Road, de Veas said.

The woman reported that the victim got into another four-door sedan, described as a “low rider,” which sped off, the sergeant said.

The driver of the green sedan made a U-turn and also fled the area, he said.

The first gunman, who had a shaved head, was described as between 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing between 195 to 210 pounds, with a muscular build.

The second suspect was described as between 25 to 35 years old. The alleged victim was only described as between 25 to 35 years old, according to de Veas.

No explanation was released as to why the witness did not immediately report the incident.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call police at (760) 770-0303.
