Fire Contained In Hills Near Beaumont

A vegetation fire that broke out in a remote location just outside of Beaumont area Sunday night was contained overnight.

It spread to 75 acres and was fully contained by Riverside County firefighters overnight, said Cheri Patterson with the Riverside County Fire Department..

The fire began just before 4 p.m. near Gilman Springs Road and Jack Rabbit Trail in Beaumont.

Firefighters said it had the potential to spread to 150 acres.

140 firefighters were on-scene, along with 3 water dropping helicopters, 2 bulldozers and 16 engines.

No homes were threatened. No reports of any injuries.

All roads in the area are open.

Firefighters are still investigating for a cause.
