Actor’s Alleged Kidnapper To Appear In Court

A Palm Springs man accused of kidnapping actor Jeremy London is due in court today.

Brandon Adams, 26, faces charges of carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and receiving stolen property.

Adams, who also faces a sentence enhancing allegation that he used a firearm, is due in court for a felony settlement conference, when attorneys informally discuss a resolution to a case before a judge.

The 37-year-old actor told police three men helped him change a flat tire about 2 p.m. June 10 in the 2500 block of North Palm Canyon Drive, on Highway 111 on the city’s far northwest side.

After changing the tire, London said he offered the men a ride. But once in the car, Adams allegedly took out a gun and ordered the actor to drive throughout Palm Springs, buy alcohol and use drugs, said Sgt. Melissa Desmarais of the Palm Springs Police Department.

London, who was in the Coachella Valley to visit his ex-wife and young son, told investigators he was able to escape around 2:35 the following morning, when he called police.

The actor’s twin brother and other family members have publicly said they doubt the recovering addict’s story, but London has countered in media interviews that he did not make up the account and believes his acting skills helped get him through the ordeal.

Adams has denied the allegations in interviews, claiming the men took a joyride and partied for hours with London, who’s known for his role in the television series “Party of Five” and “Seventh Heaven.”

Adams is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
