Child Escapes Kidnapping In Cathedral City

Four men tried to kidnap a young girl at knife- point in Cathedral City, but she escaped without injury, police said today.

The attempted kidnapping was reported at 4:50 p.m. Thursday near Date Palm Drive and 33rd Avenue, according to Sgt. Corwin de Veas of the Cathedral City Police Department.

The victim told police that four men followed her in a vehicle as she walked near Cielo Vista and 33rd Avenue, de Veas said.

One of the passengers tried to grab her and they also threatened her with a knife, the sergeant said.

The girl was able to run away and the suspects fled west on 33rd Avenue, he said.

The vehicle was described as a white, four-door sedan. The suspects were described as white and between the ages of 25 to 30 years old.
