A fire caused $80,000 in damage to an abandoned home in Palm Springs early today.

The blaze was reported at 2:45 a.m. at 3405 E. Sunny Dunes Road, Palm Springs Fire Battalion Chief Sang Pao Wang said.

Officers evacuated neighboring homes as a precaution, according to Sgt. Frank Browning of the Palm Springs Police Department.
