Riverside County Schools Leader To Mark September 11 In Ceremony

Riverside County Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Young will host a 9/11 commemoration service today, featuring patriotic music and speeches by several local officials.

The “Patriot Day” ceremony is planned at 8 a.m. outside the superintendent’s administrative building at 3939 13th St.

According to Riverside County Office of Education spokesman Rick Peoples, the public service will honor the more than 3,000 people killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, as well as pay special tribute to all current and former emergency responders and U.S. military personnel.

In addition to Young, Sheriff Stan Sniff and Riverside police Chief Sergio Diaz are scheduled to speak.

Peoples said the Elsinore High School JROTC Air Force cadets will conduct a flag-raising ceremony, and the Arlington High School Chamber Singers will perform patriotic hymns.
