La Quinta Standoff Ends Peacefully

A nearly two hour standoff came to an end peacefully on Thursday afternoon when a man walked out of a La Quinta Cove-area home, surrendering to authorities.

News Channel 3 cameras captured the images of the man walking out of the home on Avenida Rubio near Calle Monterey at 2:05 p.m.

The situation began around noon as a domestic disturbance call, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

When deputies arrived, they found a woman outside of the home, and she told them a man was inside the home refusing to come out.

She reportedly told them there were several guns in the home.

Deputies shut down several streets in the La Quinta cove area as a precaution while they negotiated with the man.

The situation ended at 2:05 p.m. with the man walking out peacefully.

No one was reported injured.
