One Stabbed In Coachella Robbery

Three people suspected of trying to rob a group of victims at knifepoint today remained at large.

The incident was reported at 2 a.m. on Orchard Avenue and 3rd Street in a residential Coachella neighborhood, said sheriff’s Lt. Frank Taylor.

Three victims were getting into their vehicle when the suspects demanded their money and assaulted them. The victims ran away, but one got stabbed in the leg in the process, the lieutenant said.

The suspects left in a 1990s model black Ford Explorer. Two of the suspects were described as Hispanic men 20-30 years old. One was 6 feet-5 inches tall and 200 pounds with light skin and black hair, and the other was 5 feet-8 inches tall and 175 pounds with dark skin. The third person’s description was unknown, Taylor said

The stabbing victim was treated at the John F. Kennedy Hospital for non- life-threatening injuries. The other two victims suffered only minor injuries and needed no treatment, according to Taylor.
