Thermal Wildfire Contained After Area Evacuations

Cal Fire and Riverside County firefighters contained a 10 acre wildfire on Monday afternoon despite it burning in a dry area.

The fire started around 12:30 p.m., according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Evacuations had been ordered for the residents of at least five trailers which were threatened by the fire near the intersection of Fillmore Street and Avenue 70 near Thermal, says California Highway Patrol Officer John Quintero.

News Channel 3 crews reported one 5th wheel trailer was consumed by the fire.

Sixty firefighters from Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire Department were on the scene, one helicopter and twelve fire engines.

There were no injuries.
