Police Make Drug Bust in Palm Springs

Palm Springs Police arrested 21-year-old Jonathan Lopez of Cathedral City on charges of drug possession with intent to sell.

Wednesday morning, Lopez allegedly tried to sell prescription drugs to the owners of Palm Springs Finest Jewelry and Collectibles — a second-hand store on Palm Canyon Drive.

Larry Kirkwood, a store manager, says Lopez came to them with a brown paper bag.

“Inside were a few brass pieces and a big bottle of pills. I didn’t touch it. He offered it to me,” said Kirkwood.

While owners say dope deals aren’t made at Palm Springs Finest — that doesn’t necessarily stop dealers from going up and down Palm Canyon, looking for someone who is buying.

“There’s always people around, children, elderly people. They don’t like to see this going on,” said Kirkwood.
