Three Farmers Markets Return To Desert This Weekend

Three farmers markets are expected to return to the Coachella Valley for a fourth year starting this weekend.

The Palm Springs Certified Farmers Market will return Saturday, and continue every week from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., next to the Camelot Theatres at 2300 E. Baristo Road, according to Michael Green, a spokesman for the Palm Springs Cultural Center, which sponsors the markets.

The market in La Quinta will open Sunday, and repeat weekly from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Old Town La Quinta on Main Street at Calle Tampico.

The Palm Desert Certified Farmers Market is set to resume Wednesday, and continue Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce, 72567 Highway 111.

Most of the produce is grown in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

The California Certified Farmers Market Program was created by the California Department of Agriculture to provide an opportunity for small farmers to market their products at lower costs.
