Big Warm Up Hits Weekend Forecast

Temperatures across the Inland Empire are expected to push into the triple-digits today as a post-summer heat wave develops over the region.

Highs in and around Riverside are forecast to top out at 98-105 degrees today amid light winds, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday should be slightly warmer, and temperatures should peak Monday, when highs are forecast to peak at 111 degrees.

Extreme heat is expected in the deserts, and residents are urged to use caution. Coachella Valley temperatures are forecast to hit 110 degrees today, with highs Sunday and Monday around 113 degrees.

Even the mountains will be hot, with highs forecast to range from 84-94 degrees today, increasing to near 100 degrees by Monday.

A slight cooling trend should start late Tuesday, according to the NWS.

Unfortunately for Coachella Valley residents and visitors, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, which is often serves as an escape from the summer heat, is closed for another week for maintenance.
