Police Search For Suspect After Attempted Kidnapping

Police say a man tried to kidnap a 15 year old girl as she walked to school early Thursday morning in San Jacinto.

The attempted abduction happened just after 6 a.m. as the San Jacinto High School student walked along Lyon Avenue.

The girl told investigators a man came up from behind and grabbed her arm.

Police say the girl was able to fight off the suspect as a motorist saw what happened and stopped to help.

The suspect ran off and a neighborhood search came up empty, according to police.

The San Jacinto Unified School District sent out a phone message to parents — warning them about the attempted abduction.

“You have to worry every day, every second. Where are your kids? When do they belong home?,” said Dawn Crawford, a parent of two young students.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, 19-20 years old, 5’9″ to 6 feet tall, thin build with brown spiked hair with brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at 951-487-7368.
