Hit and Run Sends One Person in the Hospital

Sheriff’s deputies were searching Sunday night for a the driver one of car involved in a 2-car accident.

News Channel 3 was first on scene, and talked with a witness who said a red car ran a red light at the intersection of Fred Waring and Cook Street just after 8 p.m.

The red car slammed into the side of a white Subaru.

One elderly woman had to be helped out of the white car. She was taken to the hospital. There is no word on her condition.

Another witness told News Channel 3 that they saw the crash and went to help the driver in the red car. When the witness got there, there was nobody inside. He turned around and noticed a person running off.

No description of the suspect was given.

Traffic in the area was blocked off for a short time. All lanes were re-opened by 10 p.m.
