4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Off Northern California Coast

There are no reports of damage or injuries after a magnitude-4.5 earthquake struck in the Pacific Ocean off the Humboldt County coast.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the earthquake struck around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday. It was located 37 miles northwest of Eureka, which is about 270 miles north of San Francisco.

USGS geophysicist Don Blakeman said there were no concerns the quake could trigger a tsunami given its low magnitude.

A Eureka police dispatcher said she did not feel anything and had received no reports of injuries or damage.
