It didn’t go un-noticed at the campaign headquarters of Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack and her opponent Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet.
Early voters mean candidates can’t waste time trying to get their message across. Whether its over the air waves, by phone calls, campaign literature or going door to door.
“It’s an overall strategy, but you have to realize you’re dealing with two different sets of voting dates and you have to be aware of that,” said Bono Mack’s Campaign Manager Ryan Mahoney. “You don’t have time to wait until November 2nd, now is the time.”
Steve Pougnet’s Campaign Manager Jordan Marks indicated that you can’t hit the campaign trail too soon these days.
“It forces you to communicate with voters earlier,” he said. “Both knocking on doors been knocking on doors for the past year, making phone calls. We have a great grass roots operation.”
The numbers show voting by absentee ballot has become quite prevalent. In the June primary, nearly 60 percent of votes cast in Riverside County were by mail-in-ballots.
