Actor Jeremy London To Take Witness Stand In Kidnapping Case
Jeremy London is set to testify tomorrow in a hearing to determine whether a Palm Springs man will stand trial for allegedly kidnapping the actor and making him take drugs.
Brandon Adams, 27, is charged with carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and receiving stolen property, along with a sentence-enhancing allegation that he used a firearm.
London is expected to take the witness stand at some point during the hearing, according to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
He told People magazine that he is nervous about testifying, but hopes he will be vindicated.
“I’m just glad the whole world is going to see I’m telling the truth,” London told the magazine. “All those who said bad things about me are going to look really silly. Being assaulted was bad enough, but what my brother and mother said about me almost made me want to jump off a bridge.”
The 37-year-old actor told police three men helped him change a flat tire about 2 p.m. June 10 in the 2500 block of North Palm Canyon Drive, on Highway 111 on the city’s far northwest side.
After changing the tire, London said he offered the men a ride. But once in the car, Adams allegedly took out a gun and ordered the actor to drive throughout Palm Springs, buy alcohol and use drugs.
London, who was in the Coachella Valley to visit his ex-wife and young son, told investigators he was able to escape around 2:35 the following morning, when he called police.
The actor’s twin brother and other family members have publicly said they doubt the recovering addict’s story, but London has countered in media interviews that he did not make up the account and believes his acting skills helped get him through the ordeal.
Adams has denied the allegations in interviews, claiming the men took a joyride and partied for hours with London, who’s known for his roles in the television series “Party of Five” and “Seventh Heaven.”
Adams is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
