Gang Task Force Surrounds Home Near Desert Hot Springs

The Riverside County Gang Task force was trying to serve a warrant at a home near Desert Hot Springs Friday afternoon when the man refused to come out, according to a sheriff’s spokesperson.

The warrant was issued for Juan Carlos Perez Valenzuela, charged with attempted homicide in King City, near Monterey.

Six other people came out of the home on the 15000 block of Bubbling Wells Road, but Perez stayed inside, said Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela.

An elementary school south of Desert Hot Springs was briefly placed on lockdown today while sheriff’s deputies conducted a surveillance operation nearby.

Bubbling Wells Elementary was put on lockdown status at about 2:20 p.m., according to Joan Boiko of the Palm Springs Unified School District.
