Jeremy London Testimony Delayed Until Tuesday
Actor Jeremy London was expected to testify today that he was kidnapped and forced to take drugs in Palm Springs, but the hearing was delayed until Tuesday at the request of the defense.
Brandon Adams, 27, is charged with carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and receiving stolen property, along with a sentence-enhancing allegation that he used a firearm.
London showed up for court with several supporters, but he declined to talk to reporters after the hearing.
Deputy Public Defender Greg Geist told Riverside County Superior Court Judge William Lebov that he had received additional evidence from prosecutors this week and needed more time to review it.
The judge granted the delay and ordered London and several law enforcement officers to return to court on Tuesday to testify.
“The court feels the new discovery would require additional investigation by the defense,” Lebov said.
The 37-year-old actor told police three men helped him change a flat tire the afternoon of June 10, and that after he offered them a ride, they took out a gun and ordered him to drive throughout Palm Springs, buy alcohol and use drugs.
The actor’s twin brother and other family members have publicly said they doubt the recovering addict’s story, but London has countered in media interviews that he did not make up the account and believes his acting skills helped get him through the ordeal.
Adams has denied the allegations in interviews, claiming the men took a joyride and partied for hours with London, who’s known for his roles in the television series “Party of Five” and “7th Heaven.”
Adams is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
