Jeremy London Expected Back In Court Tuesday
Jeremy London is set to testify tomorrow at a hearing that the actor hopes will prove his claims that he was kidnapped and forced to take drugs in Palm Springs.
Brandon Adams, 27, faces charges of carjacking, kidnapping, robbery, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and receiving stolen property, along with a sentence-enhancing allegation that he used a firearm.
London showed up for court with several supporters on Friday, but the preliminary hearing was put off until Tuesday at the request of Deputy Public Defender Greg Geist, who had just received additional evidence from prosecutors.
London told People magazine last week that he hopes the hearing will show he has been telling the truth.
The 37-year-old actor told police three men helped him change a flat tire the afternoon of June 10, and that after he offered them a ride, they took out a gun and ordered him to drive throughout Palm Springs, buy alcohol and use drugs.
The actor’s twin brother and other family members publicly said they doubted the recovering addict’s story, but London countered in media interviews that he did not make up the account and believes his acting skills helped get him through the ordeal.
Adams has denied the allegations in interviews, claiming the men took a joyride and partied for hours with London, who’s known for his roles in the television series “Party of Five” and “7th Heaven.”
Adams is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
