Trek Women Triathlon Comes To Desert

Hundreds of women from all across Southern California participated in the 2010 Trek Women Triathlon. The event was held at Lake Cahuilla in La Quinta.

The triathlon consisted of a 500 meter swim, 14 mile bicycle ride, and 3.1 mile run/walk. he Trek Women Triathlon Series joins the Danskin Triathlon Series, another Xxtra Mile property, as the only major women’s triathlon events created by women, run by women, exclusively for women.

Women of all ages and fitness levels participated all with one goal in mind: finish the race. The race included a team of breast cancer survivors. Proceeds from the race also go towards breast cancer research.

Becca Travis won the triathlon. However, on a day where the women involved banded together to encourage a healthy lifestyle and to celebrate overcoming obstacles, it’s hard to crown just one champion.
