great composure — ability — and teamwork under pressure. for those very reasons — our choice for team of the week — well that’s easy. may i present the palm desert water polo team. the aztecs inched closer to a desert valley league title with a dramatic 8 to 7 win over rival palm springs this week. barring any major setbacks in their next three league matches — the aztecs should add another line on the d-v-l championship banner. more importantly — the aztecs put themselves in prime c-i-f playoff position. naturally — we wanted find out the secret to success. the answer:? — not all that complicated — but vital nonetheless. “…what we’ve been doing all season, conditioning. that’s how we won today, that’s how we beat palm springs pretty much every time this season…and a lot of teams. we just swim and swim and swim and swim, and people… they just can’t keep up. they just can’t do it in the end. that shows a lot of character. that’s what i want to see going into the playoffs…we’re going to need that because the referees are going to put away the whistles and we’re gonna have to play.” while we’re on the topic of playoffs — high school football
