Two Arrested After Hold-Up And Carjacking

Two North Hollywood men were arrested today on suspicion of a robbery in Thermal and a carjacking minutes later in La Quinta.

Hector Hernandez, 19, and Jose DeJesus Rodriguez, 29, were taken into custody about 10:30 a.m., said Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The robbery was reported at 9:57 a.m. at the Apple Market Recycling Center at 65959 Harrison St., Valenzuela said.

Witnesses told News Channel 3 the suspects held workers at gunpoint and pistol-whipped their boss.

Minutes later, a carjacking was reported at the Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta in the 81200 block of Jasmine Court, she said.

At 10:07 a.m., deputies received a report of two men brandishing a gun at the gate of Trilogy Golf Club, according to Valenzuela.

“All three calls are related,” she said.

Deputies set up a perimeter around a field on Avenue 60 and Monroe Street, near where they abandoned the carjacked vehicle and were arrested minuted later.
