Indio Student Arrested For Bringing Gun To High School

A student at an Indio high school was arrested today on suspicion of bringing a loaded handgun onto campus, police reported.

The 17-year-old student was taken into custody without incident just before 11 a.m. at Amistad High School, 44881 Golf Center Drive, according to Ben Guitron of the Indio Police Department.

Investigators have not determined why the boy brought the firearm to school, according to Guitron, who said the school’s principal told police the student will be expelled.

The teenager was booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall in Indio.
