Riverside County crews battled a house fire in Desert Hot Springs today that was sending up a plume of smoke visible for miles in a clear sky.
The fire department got the call regarding the blaze at 11223 Ambrosia Drive at 12:11 p.m.
According to early reports, about half the house was swept by the flames.
In the end, forty percent of the attic was destroyed, and no one was injured.
One man and his dog were left homeless, and will be staying with neighbors.
