Steve Garvey Forming Group To Buy Dodgers

Former Los Angeles Dodger Steve Garvey says he has assembled an investment group to buy his old team if owner Frank McCourt is forced to sell the franchise as part of his divorce dispute.

Garvey tells the Los Angeles Times that owning a major league team has always been his dream.

News Channel 3 has a call into Garvey, and we’re waiting for a response.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has also said he might be interested in buying the Dodgers. He tells the Times it’s too early to say if he’ll start to pursue the team actively.

McCourt says he’ll never put the team up for sale, despite an ongoing court dispute with his estranged wife over ownership of the Dodgers.

A judge ruled this week that a marital agreement that gave McCourt sole ownership of the team is not valid.
