Crews Delay Interstate Closures Until Monday

Construction crews announced on Thursday they will delay the scheduled shutdown of Interstate 10 at Indian Avenue.

The closure is needed as part of a massive project to build new overpasses.

The closure of I-10 at Indian Avenue is now scheduled for Monday Dec. 20 and Tuesday, Dec. 21. Workers will use the time to install new girders across the freeway to support new overpasses.

Monday’s westbound closure is slated from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and Tuesday’s eastbound closure will target the same time window.

During these times, drivers will need to follow detours.

The I-10 Coachella Valley Corridor projects are overseen by a task force which includes the County of Riverside, Caltrans, the Coachella Valley Association of Governments and the desert cities.
