Riverside County Man Arrested For Distributing Child Porn

The arrest of a San Jacinto man on suspicion of distributing child pornography was based on an investigation that began more than 2,000 miles away, according to Riverside County sheriff’s officials.

Jeremiah Allen Gifford, 34, was arrested without incident at his home in the 900 block of Bergamo Avenue on Wednesday afternoon, said sheriff’s Sgt. Stephen Mike.

Detectives initiated an investigation after officers from the Wheaton, Ill., police department informed them that an anonymous San Jacinto resident had allegedly provided explicit sexual images of children via the Internet to an undercover detective in Wheaton, he said.

Sheriff’s investigators tracked down the suspect using information obtained from an Internet service provider, according to Mike.

A search warrant was served at Gifford’s residence, and his computer was seized. The suspect was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning and was released less than two hours later after posting $5,000 bail.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact sheriff’s investigators at (951) 487-7368.
