‘Safe Ride Home’ Program Begins New Year’s Eve

The “Safe Ride Home” taxi program begins on New Year’s Eve, December 31, and continues on New Year’s Night, January 1.

Three local taxi companies are joining forces to provide free rides for patrons to get home safely from local restaurants, bars, and hotels after consuming alcohol.

The taxi rides will be provided one way, with a 15-mile limit, from the place of pick up at the business establishment, to the passenger’s residence or final destination.

Rides are not provided from one business or bar to another, or from a house party. Pre-arranged rides are not permitted either.

Customers may call to request taxi rides or restaurant and bar managers may make the calls on behalf of the clients to coordinate the taxi rides. Passengers are responsible for retrieving their vehicles the following day.

The program will be in effect from 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 31, through 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 1, and again from 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 1 through 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 2.

This year’s participating taxi companies are:

Airport Taxi (760) 328-CABS (2227)American Cab (760) 322-4444Yellow Cab of the Desert (760) 340-TAXI (8294)
