Family Of Palm Springs Stabbing Suspect Speaks Out

The family of a pregnant woman accused of stabbing to death her mother’s fiancee spoke out Wednesday about what may have led to the violence.

The attack happened at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the driveway of a home on West Sunview Avenue just South of Tramview in Palm Springs.

Michelle Booty, 32, is in jail, booked for murder.

Jeff Berry, 71, is dead.

Berry was an innocent bystander, and the victim of a woman who is mentally ill, according to family members.

Berry was returning home from dinner with his fiancee, Booty’s mother, when he was brutally attacked, family members said.

According to Jackie Abner, Booty’s aunt, Berry proposed to his fiance in December, but no wedding date was ever set.

Family members said Booty has spent time in a mental institution and does not remember Tuesday’s attack.
