Rough Winter Weather Wrinkles Some Palm Springs Flight Plans
Despite more flight cancellations around the country today because of a winter storm afflicting the Midwest to the eastern seaboard, a Palm Springs International Airport official said travelers need not change their plans.
Tom Nolan, the airport’s executive director, said that all customers should show up for their scheduled flights out of Palm Springs International Airport.
“Everyone needs to show up for their regularly scheduled flights unless told differently by their airline, that’s the formula,” Nolan said.
More than 2,000 flights were canceled today, according to the flight tracking service FlightAware, adding to a logjam of more than 18,500 grounded flights this week.
Nolan said there have been a few delays and cancellations at Palm Springs International Airport from flights carrying snowbirds back home.
“Overall, everything is running smoothly with the exception of a few flights,” he said “The airport is open and operating.”
Many of the canceled flights have been those to and from Chicago airports, which serve as a major hub for the country.
