Emergency Lane Closures Hit Ramon Road In Cathedral City

Leaders of Cathedral City didn’t have much time to react, Wednesday afternoon, when Southern California Edition said it would need to close two westbound lanes of Ramon Road.

The closures, which take effect at 3 p.m., stretch from Whispering Palms to Landau.

Southern California Edison crews will be on scene for 60-90 minutes or 4:30p.m., suspend operations for rush hour, and then return at approximately 8 p.m. to finish emergency maintenance.

An Edison spokesperson said parts are need of replacement.

Valley commuters are encouraged to use alternate routes of travel during the evening rush hour.

The repairs come one day after a power outage hit the border of Cathedral City and Palm Springs, leaving 1,400 customers without power at one point.
