Palm Springs Police Nab Burglary Suspect Hiding In Bushes

Palm Springs police were able to apprehend a man suspected of breaking into a residence in Palm Springs early Sunday morning despite the darkness of the hour.

Police spokesperson Rhonda Long said officers responded to a report of a burglary alarm on the 2900 block of Cerritos Road at 3:50 a.m. They found a window that had been smashed to the rear of the residence and quickly set up a perimeter of officers to keep any suspect from getting away.

Moments later, officers found the suspect Christopher Portillo, 23, of Palm Springs, hiding int he bushes in the backyard of the home. He was arrested, and book into the Smith Correctional facility in Banning.
