Richard Lee Named Cathedral City High School Varsity Football Coach

Richard Lee was named head varsity football coach at Cathedral City High School, the school district announced today.

Lee, who also coaches track and field and works as a security officer at the high school, served as assistant varsity football coach from 1995 to 2000.

He replaces Rich McClure, who resigned as head coach earlier this week, citing family commitments, according to Palm Springs Unified School District spokeswoman Joan Boiko.

McClure was 0-10 last season, his only year as head coach. The Cathedral City football team has won two games the past three seasons.

Lee has coached track and field since 1998, having served as head coach in that sport since 2006.
