Cathedral City Police Search For Duo Who Attacked Man Over Cell Phone
Police in Cathedral City are looking for any information that will lead them to two men who allegedly pulled a man from his car on Wednesday night after he refused to let them use his cell phone.
The incident happened around 8 p.m., according to Cathedral City Police Sgt. Carl Wolford. Officers were sent to a parking lot on the 28000 block of Date Palm Drive, near the intersection of Vista Chino, after someone reported a robbery.
When officers arrived, they talked with the victim, who was a Cathedral City resident. He told them he had pulled into a business parking lot to make a phone call on his cellular phone. While he was making his call, a car pulled up behind his.
Two men tried to talk with the man in his car. One of them, he said, asked to use his cellular phone.
When he refused, the two men assaulted him and forced him out his vehicle. The suspects stole some items in the car, and took off in their car toward Interstate 10.
The victim received minor injuries from the assault. No weapon was used to commit the crime, Woldford said.
The suspects are described as:
1) White male adult, 25-30 years, 5?-10? tall, 140 lbs., wearing a black short sleeve pullover shirt, blue Jean pants, black zip up jacket and a black Beanie cap.
2) Black male adult, 20-25 years, 6?-3? tall, 220 lbs., black short hair, wearing a white short sleeve pullover shirt and khaki pants.
The vehicle was possibly a newer model 4-door Toyota Camry last seen traveling northbound from the area on Date Palm Drive toward the I-10 freeway.
