Palm Springs Police Officer Arrested On Domestic Violence Accusations
A Palm Springs police lieutenant faces possible charges of kidnapping and domestic violence while investigators search for his missing girlfriend.
Lt. Abraham Tokier, 50, of Cathedral City, was arrested by Cathedral City police on Thursday on suspicion of kidnapping and inflicting injuries on his girlfriend, according to Palm Springs police Lt. Dennis Graham.
The arrest stemmed from a domestic violence call on Feb. 23 at Tokier’s home on the 68800 block of Panorama Road. Cathedral City police officers identified to two people involved as Tokier and his girlfriend, Dawn Foster, 37, of Desert Hot Springs.
After the initial call, Cathedral City police were unable to find Tokier or Foster, investigators told News Channel 3. After following up on leads, they discovered the couple had left the Coachella Valley and gone to the Lake Havasu and Bullhead City, Ariz., areas.
On Thursday afternoon, Tokier was located back in Cathedral City and arrested.
On Friday, he was in custody at the Banning Jail, held on $500,000 bail, according to court records. He faces a court appearance on Monday where he will be arraigned at the Riverside County Courthouse in Indio.
CRITICAL MISSING PERSONS REPORT
Foster hasn’t been seen since the evening of the domestic violence call at Tokier’s home, according to Cathedral City police.
On March 1, a concerned friend who said she was aware of the domestic violence issues between the two issued a Critical Missing Persons Report with police.
A spokesman for the Cathedral City Police Department said investigators are gravely concerned about finding Foster safe. She has not been in contact with family or friends for the past eight days.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Foster or who has had any contact with her in the past week is asked to contact the Cathedral City Police Department at 760-770-0303.
