Man Dies After Being Hit By Car In Desert Hot Springs

A Desert Hot Springs woman was arrested on Wednesday after she was treated for injuries she suffered when her car reportedly hit a man crossing Palm Drive.

The incident happened around 7:45 a.m. near the intersection of Palm Drive and Fourth Street. That’s where officers arrived and found a 54-year-old man in the southbound lanes of Palm Drive suffering from major injuries. The vehicle involved was also located with the driver still in the driver’s seat. She complained of back and neck pain.

Both were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where the victim was pronounced dead, and the driver was taken into custody when she was released from the hospital.

Heather Gimble, 33, faces possible charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. She was taken to the Banning jail.

The victim’s name is being kept private until his family is notified.
