La Quinta Man Pleads Not Guilty To Attempted Rape

Jonathan Rossman, 29, of La Quinta pleaded not guilty Thursday afternoon to five felony charges for allegedly attempting to rape a woman inside her Bermuda Dunes apartment.

When deputies arrived at the Emerald Place Apartments on Washington Street near Country Club Drive in Bermuda Dunes, deputies say they caught Rossman leaving the victim’s apartment with her wallet. He also had sexual lubricant and pornography in his possession.

When investigators went inside the apartment they found an unconscious 29-year-old woman. She was taken to the hospital, and is expected to be fine.

The alleged victim says she doesn’t know Rossman.

During his arraignment Thursday, Rossman asked to see a jail psychiatrist because he’s been off his prescription medication since the arrest.

He’s being held on a $1 million bail. He will be back in court May 16.
