Firefighters Douse Small Blaze At Palm Springs Home

A bedroom fire caused an estimated $6,000 in damage to a Palm Springs home today, but no one was hurt, a fire official said.

The blaze at 862 Nueva Vista was reported around 9 a.m. Firefighters doused the flames in less than 15 minutes, Palm Springs fire battalion Chief Jim Webb said.

Two people who were inside the leased home when the blaze began got out safely before firefighters arrived, Webb said.

“One of the occupants reported trying to extinguish the fire with a pan of water, but was unsuccessful due to heavy smoke,” Webb said.

The cause was under investigation.
