Memorial Day Events Around the Valley

Memorial Day events for Monday, May 30th.

Cathedral City – Forest Lawn will be hosting their 6th Annual Memorial Day Program. It will include patriotic music, a color guard, a rifle salute, and a wreath laying ceremony. It begins at 10:30 a.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet. Attendees will be given free refreshments and souvenirs. Forest Lawn in Cathedral City is located at 69855 East Ramon Road.

Beaumont – The city will be honoring local veterans by inscribing 16 names on the Beaumont Veteran’s Memorial Wall. The memorial honors deceased military personnel who lived in Beaumont or Cherry Valley while on active duty or who died later in those communities after their military service ended. The event starts at 11 a.m. located at 550 E. 6th Street.

Indian Wells – The city will be commemorating not only those who have served in the military, but also the Triangular Adoption Program established with the USS Bonhomme Richard Navy ship and Gerald R. Ford Elementary School. The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. at the Eisenhower Walk of Honor located at 44-950 El Dorado Drive.

Palm Springs – Come celebrate the 13th Annual Memorial Day Flower Drop. A vintage B-25 Bomber will drop 3,000 carnations from the sky over the Palm Springs Air Museum’s tarmac, following a “Missing Man Formation” by four T-34’s. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. and the flower drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. Events are included with regular admission to the museum located at 745 N. Gene Autry Trail.

Indio — U.S. Representative Mary Bono Mack will lead a flag raising ceremony at 8 a.m. at the Sun City Shadow Hills located at 80-814 Sun City Boulevard.

Coachella – County Supervisor John Benoit will remember the soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. He’ll be giving the keynote address. Members of Indio High School’s California Cadet Corps, 158th Battalion, and Boy Scouts of America Troop 377 will conduct ceremonial duties. The event is being held at the Coachella Valley Cemetery located at 82-925 Avenue 52. Service starts at 9 a.m.
