Twentynine Palms Marine Arrested For DUI After Accident
A Marine based at Twentynine Palms Marine Air Ground Combat Center was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Friday morning after his truck nearly collided with another car and smashed into a telephone pole.
The California Highway Patrol reports the accident happened at 5:45 a.m. on State Route 62 near Rotary Way in Twentynine Palms.
Investigators said Humberto Salinas, 21, of Twentynine Palms, was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 truck eastbound on State Route 62, when he veered into the westbound lane and almost collided head-on with a Mini Cooper. The Mini Cooper’s driver swerved, getting side-swiped by the truck, which was sent crashing into a telephone pole, snapping it in half.
A passenger of the truck, Clifford Heart, also a Maine at Twentynine Palms, was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center after he complained of pain.
Salinas was arrested by CHP officers for felony driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level of .15 percent or more.
