4 Businesses Evacuated After Natural Gas Leak

The Southern California Gas Company shut gas service down for the shopping center at the corner of Country Club and Cook Street on Thursday after a leak was reported.

Cal Fire and Riverside County firefighters report the 1-inch gas line was ruptured around 10:30 a.m.

Construction crews were repaving portions of Cook Street, although it’s not known if they were responsible for the rupture.

Workers called for the evacuation of four of the stores in the strip shopping center until repairs can be made.

There have been no reports of injuries.

While the gas line is repaired, Riverside County sheriff’s deputies will block the intersection affected by the leak.
